Lanes have reopened on the M42 this morning (July 1) after an offal spill near Birmingham Airport.

Two of four lanes on the Northbound carriageway were shut at around 6am between junction 5a (Birmingham Airport) and junction six (A45).

National Highways confirmed they had reopened at around 10am.

At one point there were four miles of congestion and delays of at least 40 minutes on the motorway.
