A new operation aimed at combating burglaries in Kenilworth is set to continue after its early success.
Operation Castle was launched at the start of 2024, putting police around the town from 8pm to 4am to help curb a rise in burglaries.
The initiative saw success after just two days, with a car containing four men "strongly suspected" of multiple offences stopped at 2am.
More people have since been stopped who were "of note" and "suspected of committing similar offences" in the area. They are now under investigation.
That is according to a report from Kenilworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, presented to Kenilworth Town Council at the end of February.
The report said at the end of January there were 14 burglaries in two weeks around Dencer Drive and Windy Arbour, with offenders 'snapping' locks of UPVC doors to enter houses.
"This prompted Operation Castle where officers from Kenilworth and Warwick Safer Neighbourhood Teams, with support from traffic officers, were tasked to patrol the area at the times when the offences were taking place," it added.
"Almost all occurred between 1am and 3am. This is still in place.
"As a result, over the continuing period of the operation, six persons were stopped around the area who were of note and suspected of committing similar offences in the Midlands area.
"They are currently under investigation and since the start of the operation there has been one offence reported."
