New life-saving defibrillator unveiled in Kenilworth

A new life-saving defibrillator has been installed at the new Kenilworth Scout and Guide Centre (KSGC) adjoining Castle Farm Leisure Centre.
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is the 32nd installed in the town thanks to Kenilworth HeartSafe (KHS).
Richard Elliott, district lead volunteer of Kenilworth Scouts said: "Our wonderful new facilities off Fishponds Road have brought significantly more footfall to this part of town with both indoor and outdoor activities greatly increased and we felt that the location of a 24/7 publicly accessible AED was something we should champion.
"KHS helped KSGC secure a discount on an AED and then facilitated the donation of a cabinet from Abbey Medical Centre".
Richard added: "We are very grateful to both organisations for their input and generosity and are delighted to be able to provide this potentially life saving equipment to support our local community."

KHS Trustee, Nicky Schofield - herself a Scout Volunteer - said: "It has been very rewarding to combine two of my passions in helping achieve the location of another AED in our community as part of KHS' campaign for 'Saving Lives in Kenilworth'.
"It is a part of Scouting & Guiding to help young people appreciate the importance of embracing their community and the installation of the AED for 24/7 public access has provided a good opportunity of reinforcing that message."
Kenilworth Scout Group and KHS have and continue to work together to provide training in the use of AEDs.
All Leaders at KSGC, as well as Spring Playgroup who also use the new facility, are trained in the use of AEDs.
