The new landlords of a Kenilworth pub say they want to return it to the heart of the community.

Husband and wife Tacc and Mikyla Brown have officially reopened The Gauntlet after weeks of work getting the venue back ready for business.

Having taken the keys to the Caesar Road venue at the end of October, the duo have had to give it some much-needed TLC before reopening on Saturday 30 November.

"It's been a graft, but very rewarding actually," Tacc told Nub News.

"It's been nice; we worked really hard getting it looking to this standard.

"We're not done yet, but we've got the pub to a good place now."

With over 20 years of experience working in pubs and hospitality, getting The Gauntlet up and running again was nothing new for Tacc and Kyla.

Having first met at the Bull & Anchor in Ash Green, the duo have worked at pubs across Coventry and Warwickshire but said they always wanted to run a community pub of their own.

"We specifically wanted a community pub," Mikyla explained.

"When we came across this, we knew it was perfect, it's exactly what we wanted.

"It needed lifting back up, which is something we've both done for work in the past.

"It's going to be a pub you build around your community, which is what we want.

"So it was exactly what we were looking for."

With The Gauntlet now given a full makeover, the new landlords are looking to launch a new food menu in the new year, featuring freshly cooked favourites with local ingredients.

The pub has already announced a number of events over the coming weeks including a Christmas fayre on December 7, a brass band on December 19 and live music from Third Alert on Saturday 27.

And now the pub is open once again, the duo are encouraging locals to come and see its fresh new look.

"I think people don't think they feel they can trust coming in because new people have come and gone before and let people down," Mikyla said.

"We want people to know they can trust us.

"We'll look after the pub for you.

"We care about it. We actually want to be here and we really enjoy what we do.

Tacc added: "We just want to meet people, we want to get to know the locals.

"We want people to come in and meet us, come and see what we've done with the place."
