Nationwide week against knife crime kicks off in Warwickshire

A week of national action against knife crime has begun, including in Warwickshire.
The initiative called, Op Sceptre, is to promote awareness of the dangers of carrying bladed articles and to prosecute those who do.
During this week, Warwickshire Police will be carrying out multiple different operations to catch criminals whom carry bladed articles and will look to educate persons of the dangers of bladed articles to prevent such items being carried.
Warwickshire Police will also be conducting the following actions as part of the week:
- High visible patrols in hotspot areas identified as having a high rate of ASB/Crime.
- Schools, colleges and universities will be engaged with to educate young persons of the dangers of carrying knives.
- Weapon/Knife Sweeps will be carried out within different locations, to find hidden or discarded knives.
- Partnership working, to promote the "Challenge 25 ID" approach from different places of which are involved in the sale of knives.
- Plain clothes operations.
- Multiple social media posts in relation to the danger of knife crime.
