Kenilworth residents will soon be able to benefit, as National Express Coventry announced this weekend that it will cut the price of bus fares, when current restrictions on public transport are eased.
Reduced fares will be funded by money from the government's Job Retention Bonus.
Tom Stables, Managing Director of National Express UK said: "This is the right thing to do for our customers. And by using our allowance from the Chancellor's Job Retention Bonus to reduce fares across the West Midlands, we are investing in the future of our region.
"Making bus travel cheaper will help get our local high streets back on their feet, lock in the environmental benefits that came out of lockdown and get the people of the West Midlands back to work."
Whilst the company continued to operate during the lockdown period, a reduced demand for buses meant that much of their workforce were placed on the government furlough scheme.
Many of these workers have returned to work as restrictions have begun to ease, and we have become accustomed to the new normal.
Single, £1,000 payments are available to companies under the Government's Job Retention Scheme. One payment is available for each furloughed employee who stays employed until the end of January 2021.
In Kenilworth, National Express operate the number 11 service from Coventry to Leamington, and the 539 which runs between Coventry and Kenilworth via Bagington.
