Further proposals that would radically change a Solihull village have been revealed by a developer.
Hundreds of new homes, a school and GP surgery could be delivered in Hockley Heath as part of the proposals from applicant Rainier Developments Limited.
It is being proposed the mixed use development would be built on 16 hectares of green belt land west of Stratford Road.
Plans include:
- 268 new homes with 50 per cent affordable housing
- Provision of land and contributions for a new primary school
- Delivery of new areas of open space, including space for sports pitches for the school
- Provision of land and contributions for new or improved community facilities including potentially a GP surgery
A planning statement submitted to Solihull Metropolitan Council said: "The development would utilise grey belt land (low quality green belt land).
"There is a demonstrable unmet need for housing.
"The development can meet the 'golden rules' in respect of affordable housing, improvements to local infrastructure, and provision of open space.
"Even if it is concluded the land is not grey belt, very special circumstances are demonstrated that outweigh the potential harm to the green belt."
The layout, scale, landscaping and appearance of the dwellings would form a 'reserved matters' application which would be submitted if outline planning permission is granted by council planners.
It is the latest scheme proposed to grow the village which has a population of around 2,000 residents.
Rainier has also revealed plans for 32 properties on land north of School Road, while Nurton Developments Ltd wants to build 99 new homes on land to the south.
A decision on those applications has not yet been made.
Villagers are being given the chance to have their say on Rainier's latest plan in a consultation.
Interested parties have until November 13 to submit their views to Solihull planners.
