Three men have been arrested after fish were stolen from Earlswood Lakes on Tuesday (April 18).

Officers from Warwickshire Police's rural crime team recovered the stolen fish, which had been carried away in a plastic bag, and returned them to the water.

A force spokesperson explained: "After further reports of fish being stolen from Earlswood Lakes earlier today [Tuesday] we spoke to a couple of males matching the description who were horrified that someone had accused them of such activity, and quickly emptied their bags to prove their innocence.

"That was until one eagle eyed officer caught sight of the missing third in the group skulking around with a carrier bag further along the path.

"After losing sight of the third for a short time our officer tracked him down to a car park, where they quite literally followed their nose to eventually find what may have been tonight's main course."

The men were arrested for the thefts and all of their fishing equipment was seized.
