'Memorial Melee' event remembering two much-loved members of the Kenilworth community a 'great success'
The organisers of a 'Memorial Melee' in the memory of two much-loved members of the local community have hailed the event a "great success".
Nomades Petanque Club welcomed 24 players from around the town to Kenilworth Sporting on Saturday (November 11) for the event in the memory of Geoff Harris and Peter Dennis.
Four games were played at the Gypsy Lane venue, with a break for the Kenilworth Sporting Ground's infamous brunch.
The overall joint winners were Ian Dyson and Charles Caruana.
The event also raised £220, which will be donated to charities associated with the Mr Harris and Mr Dennis.
Mr Harris, who passed away on August 11 aged 77, spent nearly four decades running local firm Coventry Plumbing and Heating Supplies, and was the driving force in launching Kenilworth Sporting at Gypsy Lane.
Mr Dennis was a life member of Nomades Pétanque Club and played right up to his death at the age of 93 this year.
The Nomades welcome new members and invite anyone to come and try the sport. They play a variety of times on weekends, weekdays and some evenings at Kenilworth Sporting Ground, Gypsy Lane.
