The M6 did not fully reopen until the early hours of the morning, following a lorry fire yesterday.

There were around nine miles of congestion at junction two - with the A46 and M69 - during the rush hour as the motorway was closed in both directions.

Firefighters had to battle the hay wagon blaze for hours, with the contents of the lorry eventually moved onto the carriageway to be extinguished.

National Highways updated motorists at around 2am to say the road was fully open again.
