The first complete history of Kenilworth during the Second World War is now on sale at Kenilworth Books.

'World War 2 comes to Kenilworth' is the tenth local history book by author Robin Leach and it tells the story of the town from 1938 to the official VE Day celebrations in 1946.

Having already written about the town's railway history, the Abbey Fields, and the social history of the town in the Victorian era, Robin's latest work is likely to be his last.

"It probably will be; I can't think that I am going to get enough information on another subject to write another book," he said.

"Although I said the last one would be as well!"

Printed locally at Emmerson Press on Farmer Ward Road, it is now on sale at Kenilworth Books in Talisman Square as well as from Robin directly.

The shop, which stocks books from a range of local and independent authors, has supported Robin for a number of years now.

"Kenilworth Books is vital as an outlet for us local historians; Judy and her team are so welcoming and keen to recognise the interest that townsfolk have in Kenilworth," he added.

"I'm currently restocking the shop every couple of days."

Robin has actually been collecting material for the book over a number of years before sitting down to write it fully at the start of the first national lockdown.

Including some 170 photographs and previously unpublished information about Kenilworth, it is now available for £14.95.
