The Liberal Democrat group has announced its candidates for the Warwickshire County Council elections in May.

Adrian Marsh has been selected for Kenilworth St John's, Rob Eason will stand in Lapworth and West Kenilworth, and Samantha Cooke is a candidate for Park Hill.

Kenilworth St John's

Mr Marsh, a Kenilworth resident of more than 25 years, is married with two children and is an active sportsman who believes that local arts, recreation and sports facilities should be protected and improved. In his professional career he has been a passionate supporter of skills development and apprenticeships.

Mr Marsh said: "Kenilworth is embarking on massive change that will see hundreds of new homes built and growing pressure on local services. I want to give St John's residents a powerful voice so that the changes are sensible, sustainable and environmentally-sensitive."

Lapworth and West Kenilworth

Rob Eason, originally from Shropshire, is a Technical Support Manager at Warwick University. Mr Eason's children both attended Priors Field School and are currently at Kenilworth School. In 2010 he decided to give something back to his adopted home and joined Kenilworth Round Table where he became chairman.

Mr Eason said: "The town is particularly strong with community groups and this is a major factor in Kenilworth being a great place to live despite all the changes it faces. County councillors will have an active role to play in these changes as we move forward together."

Kenilworth Park Hill

Ms Cooke is a University lecturer and was elected a Kenilworth town councillor in 2019. She is an active member of the community, volunteering with the Covid-19 Support Kenilworth Group. Recently, Samantha led the town council's shop window competition.

She said: "Kenilworth is a fantastic town and the way we have come together during this pandemic has been amazing. The County Council has a key role in response to Covid-19 and in ensuring public services and infrastructures work effectively for the town."

Cllr Richard Dickson, one of three Liberal Democrat Warwick District councillors in Kenilworth, said: "Adrian, Rob and Samantha will make excellent county councillors and they'll work hard to deliver a fairer, caring and greener county. They bring a great mix of skills and an ability to work with a wide variety of people in the local community."
