Controversial plans for a new house in Lapworth have been given a boost by council planners.

Permission in principle has been granted for a new home to be built on grassland on Station Lane.

The application says the build is a "logical infill opportunity" and "the development would not harm the village integrity".

"The setting of Kingswood Farm would be preserved," the application argued.

"Existing protected trees would be retained and continue to provide visual containment.

"The proposal offers opportunities for biodiversity enhancement and landscape improvement."

However, seven objections were received from local residents.

Neighbours pointed to the fact a previous application for three homes on the site was refused in 2015.

Others argued it was not an infill development.

"It is not [infill]," one objector wrote.

"As we all know, developing on the end of a row of two or three houses adjacent to a green belt field is an intrusion into the green belt.

"It is not infill."

A full planning application is expected to be submitted before construction begins.
