A Kenilworth pub has been awarded a 2021 Travellers' Choice Award for its consistent stream of positive Tripadvisor reviews.

The Virgins and Castle on High Street has received the award in the restaurant category having been in the top 10 per cent of restaurants in the world.

This is no mean feat given there are over 1.4m restaurants on Tripadvisor's platform.

It is also one of a number of awards the pub has been nominated for since new owners Caviar and Chips took over in March 2020. Last November the High Street venue won a Heart of the Community award for it work supporting vulnerable residents during the pandemic.

General manager at the Virgins & Castle, Andy Lock said: "I couldn't quite believe it when I read the email from Tripadvisor saying that they had recognised us in their top 10 per cent of restaurants across the world, I had to read it twice.

"We've been working really hard to perfect our food and drink menus and the service that our guests experience at the Virgins & Castle.

"I'm incredibly proud of the team and these last few months have been really challenging and so this is a huge boost and credit to all of their fantastic work. I'm incredibly grateful to all of our guests for their kind reviews and supporting us over the last 18 months."

The announcement from Tripadvisor comes just a week after the pub hired its first apprentice.
