Mayor of Kenilworth Cllr Richard Dickson has given a statement to the young people returning to Kenilworth this month

Students are now beginning to return from university, having undergone rapid testing over the past few weeks to ensure that infected youngsters are not spreading Covid as they travel across the country.

Here are Richard's words:

"In the next few days many of Kenilworth's young residents aged 18-22, who went off to university/college earlier in the autumn, will start coming home for Christmas. I have a message for them.

"Firstly, I want to welcome you back! You are our future and we're proud of you. I'm sure you'll have been much missed by your families during the COVID-19 isolation.

"I know also that many of you will have had a very different, and in some cases very difficult, term to what you were expecting. For first-year students these challenges will have come on top of the problems with A level results in August.

"Secondly, here are two important things for you to do whilst you're home at Christmas:

"1) Stay safe and enable others to stay safe too. The County Council has some useful advice on this on their website

and

"2) Make sure that you've registered to vote and are listed on the electoral roll. Don't miss out on the chance to vote in the elections in 2021 - if you think you'll need a postal vote now is also a good time to apply - for more details see the district council website."
