The owner of a Kenilworth wine bar and bistro has thanked the "brilliant support" of the local community as the business celebrates its first anniversary.

The Butcher's Bistro on High Street welcomed customers for the first time in December 2022, and has proved a hit with locals since.

Run by former teacher Kate Greevy, the venue has recently launched a new menu and has more of its popular themed nights and events planned for the coming 12 months.

"The past year has flown by," Kate told Nub News.

"We have been supported so brilliantly in our first year and couldn’t have had a warmer welcome from the local community.

"A few changes since we opened with a new front of house manager called Luke who brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, an improved menu and the start of our themed nights.

"We have a lot planned for 2024 with regular live music on Friday and Sundays coming up; we shall be opening on Tuesday evenings now we are so busy, our linners will be back in the summer along with a prix fixe menu in the early evenings from 4pm to 7pm Tuesday to Friday, a pre-theatre menu plus a Weekend Brunch Club!

"We then have some pop up events such as our Burns night and Valentine's evening, dessert menu event, champagne and seafood evening and our ever popular steak nights plus a few new events like gin tasting, wine and cheese nights, wine flight event and plot to plate in the summer.

"We will be busy, busy, busy!"

Kate took over the former Alexa Lauren Patisserie last autumn, and, with the help of a local designer, managed to transform the High Street venue in just six weeks before opening.

As if that was not enough, launching the Butcher's Bistro came just months after Kate took over the Farthing Gallery and Tea Room on the other side of the road.

"Running two businesses that opened six months apart has been, how shall we put it, an emotional rollercoaster!" Kate added.

"The good news is there have been considerably lots more ups than downs!

"We are all just so appreciative to everyone who continues to support us.

"We’ve moved from number 45 to number eight on TripAdvisor for recommended restaurants, which is a massive achievement for a new venture!

"Let’s see what 2024 brings for us!"
