Kenilworth Rugby Football Club (KRFC) proudly marked its centenary season on Saturday 21 September, celebrating a remarkable 100 years of sporting heritage and community involvement.

The centenary was celebrated with a walk from the Memorial Park Coventry, the location of the club's inaugural match against Warwickshire Yeomanry on this weekend in 1924, to the club's current ground on Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth where members and guests enjoyed a celebratory lunch before their Men's Regional 1, Midlands match against Bromsgrove.

Joining them on the walk were Kenilworth's deputy mayor, Cllr James Kennedy and deputy mayoress, Kit Lawry.

A warm sunny day, the walk began with a few words of welcome from club President Rich Bennett before the group stepped off for the gentle five miles or so trek to the Jack Davies Memorial Ground, home of KRFC on Glasshouse Lane.

A little under a couple of hours later the group arrived for some well-earned refreshments and lunch where many stories were shared with guests and clubmates in advance of the Men's 1stXV fixture with Bromsgrove RFC, also celebrating their 150th Anniversary year.

Despite the result not going Kenilworth's way, a great weekends Rugby was had with the Men's 1st and 2nd XV playing at Kenilworth on the Saturday, the 2nd XV taking on a youthful Daventry 2nd XV, and the Women's 1st XV travelling all the way to Newcastle upon Tyne to face Old Novocastrians RFC on the Sunday.

In addition, and not to be down heartened by the weather, the thriving Kenilworth RFC Minis and Juniors section hosted a mini rugby tournament for U10 boys and girls also on the Sunday playing host to some ten sides from as far afield as Evesham, where despite the awful weather a fantastic time was had by all.

Incredibly proud of the club's history and enduring role in the community, club president, Rich Bennett, thanked all those who had taken part in the weekend's events.

As KRFC celebrates its centenary, it remains committed to fostering a love for rugby, supporting player development, and continuing its proud tradition of community engagement through the values of the game of Rugby.
