A Kenilworth primary school's 'skipathon' has raised £5,000 for a charity that supports school meal programmes in some of the world's poorest communities.

The March skipathon saw pupils hop, skip and jump backwards and forwards across the school hall all in aid of Mary's Meals.

Crackley Hall School's headmaster Rob Duigan presented a cheque to the charity's supporter engagement officer Cornia O'Brien in assembly on Monday, April 25.

In the assembly, Corina told the children how Mary's Meals provide a daily meal in a place of education to over two million young people across the world.

She said it takes just £15.90 to feed a child for a year and that the children's donations would provide a whopping 62,500 meals.

Corina said: "A huge thank you to all the children and their sponsors.

"We know there are children across the world who need our help and that when they go to school and have a meal then they gain both an education and a brighter future."

Mr Duigan added: "Well done to all the skippers who took part and a big thank you to those who generously donated to the skipathon.

"We had a lot of fun and laughter on the day, and I am really proud of all the children for raising such a fantastic total."
