Kenilworth planning roundup: Solar farm, pub's mural and Wetherspoon

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Solar Farm Forced Through
An energy company has forced through its plans for a new solar farm between Kenilworth and Balsall Common after councillors initially refused to grant planning permission.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's (SMBC) planning committee threw out the scheme in February 2024 as objectors said applicant Exagen was squeezing farmers out of the local community.
The second half of the application - which was split across two local authorities - was then refused by Warwick District Council which said it would harm the green belt.
Pub's Mural Allowed
A landlord has won his battle to keep a bull mural on the side of his 400-year-old pub - as long as he makes the boozer look like a farm.
Martin Peel was stunned when he was ordered to remove the 8ft-high painting from the wall of The Bull's Head in the village of Wootton Wawen.
He had commissioned local artist Phil Taylor to create the artwork which cost £1,200 last April.
Historic Name
A name has been confirmed for Kenilworth's new Wetherspoon, drawing on the town's rich medieval history.
'The Dictum of Kenilworth' will be the name for the new boozer at The Square, which will be built in the vacant Poundland unit in the town centre.
Signed in October 1266, the dictum was a peace treaty signed to bring an end to the siege of Kenilworth and the Second Barons War.
