By James Smith 28th Feb 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Abbey Repairs
Repair works to the outside of Stoneleigh Abbey are needed, a planning application submitted to Warwick District Council has revealed.
The plans - submitted by WvH Planning Ltd - show a variety of repairs are needed on the East Wing and the undercroft.
The application said the extent of the works needed, was discovered following the approval of other planning applications for the grade II listed building.
HS2 'destroying' village
Residents in a Warwickshire village left "destroyed" by HS2 claim rural life has been shattered by the "monster" concrete works which a Ukrainian refugee said was "louder than the bombs in Kyiv."
Angry locals in Water Orton - which is considered the worst affected county by HS2 - say the ongoing building works are making life hell in their once-peaceful community.
Some have reported their homes being left damaged as a result of heavy machinery vibrating their properties - while others have been left unable to sleep at night.
Solar Farm's Future
A controversial new solar farm which was only given the green light after a planning appeal is hoped to be connected to the electricity network next year.
Exagen Holly Lane Ltd has revealed the next steps for its development at Birmingham Road after a planning battle for the solar farm was eventually won in 2024.
The development will eventually cover a green belt site which is roughly the size of 85 football pitches.
