Gigafactory gets the go ahead

The proposed gigafactory at Coventry Airport was given the green light by Warwick District Council's planning committee.

After a four-hour discussion councillors approved the application, despite the near 300 objections to it from residents.

Coventry City Council will discuss the plans on Thursday.

Abattoir set for 'major expansion'

An abattoir on Rouncil Lane has submitted an application for a major expansion.

The plans could see a new two-storey office block built and the old offices converted into refrigeration.

Applicant Farmer Fresh said: "It is a major expansion that is necessary to keep this business running. We are not doing it to increase profits, it is just to keep the wheels turning."

New sign for Specsavers

Planning permission was granted by WDC for Specsavers on The Square to have two new signs built.

A new illuminated projecting sign and a full new fascia sign will be built at the high street shop.
