Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Developer Gets Decision

A housing developer has won its appeal to force through an application for 140 new homes off Westwood Heath Road.

Warwick District Council had previously refused the proposal from IM Land 1 Limited, forcing the developer to appeal the decision to the planning inspectorate.

Council officers had recommended the application be approved, but it was narrowly voted down by the councillors on the planning committee.

When the appeal was submitted, the local authority chose not to fight it, after taking legal advice on the application.

Pub's Makeover

The latest bid to build a new house in the gardens of a Kenilworth care home has been blocked by a planning inspector.

Clarendon Care Services Ltd has seen its appeal turned down after Warwick District Council refused permission for the facility at Kenilworth Manor Nursing Home earlier this year.

It was the second time the local authority had thrown out such a scheme, having refused permission for a four-bed house and dementia garden at the Thickthorn Close site in 2022 also.

Every Little Helps

A new Tesco Express is set to open in Kenilworth, replacing a One Stop shop.

The supermarket chain has confirmed the One Stop on Albion Street will be rebranded.

Nub News understands the change is to come later this year, and a short closure is expected while the unit is rebranded.

Staff at the One Stop will be given roles at the new Tesco store and are expected to be given more information about the changes in the coming weeks.
