Kenilworth planning roundup: 2.4km cutting, footbridge and extra homes

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Extra Homes
A housing developer is looking to add five extra houses into a huge new housing estate under construction in Kenilworth.
Persimmon Homes has already been given detailed planning permission for all phases of the Thickthorn Development off Leamington Road, with many of the houses now built and occupied.
But now the developer has asked for permission to add a further five homes to the second phase of the development - which was due to only include some 144 dwellings.
2.4km Cutting
Final design details for the 2.4km cutting through Stoneleigh for HS2 works have been signed off.
While work around the NAEC for the high speed rail line is well underway, Warwick District Council has now signed off on an application for a range of design elements.
The HS2 Act states the Stonehouse Cutting will be built, with the local authority only able to decide on a number of smaller bits of the plans.
New Footbridge
Plans for a huge footbridge to carry a public right of way over the HS2 line have been revealed.
The high speed rail developer announced in 2023 that Centenary Way (K29) would be moved as the new line is built.
The footpath was diverted around New Kingswood Farm while construction between Dalehouse Lane and the A46 progressed.
