Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Balsall Common's Expansion

Plans for an enormous new neighbourhood significantly extending Balsall Common will go before planners for a final decision next week.

A proposal from developers Harris Strategic Land And Colchurch Properties Limited for nearly 1,000 new homes on land alongside the new HS2 line have been in the works for three years.

The major application for outline planning permission will go before Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's planning committee with officers recommending it gets the go-ahead.

Waitrose's New Look

A refurb has been announced for Kenilworth's Waitrose.

Works at the Bertie Road supermarket are due to start at the end of August and will run for nine weeks until late October.

The shop will remain open throughout.

"Get ready to do some shopping upgrades because your favourite store is getting a spectacular refurb," the business said.

'Save Our Fields'

Residents have just five days left to sign a petition calling on the district councils not to let any more housing estates be built to the south of Kenilworth.

Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils will this month discuss the next steps for the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) as it reaches its latter stages.

Locals are set to have their final say on the major planning document, before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for approval.
