Members and supporters of Kenilworth Golf Club in Warwickshire have raised £15,000 for charity Parkinson's UK.

The event at Kenilworth Golf Club raised the amount by hosting its fourth annual Parkinson's UK Golf Day, bringing the overall total to £50,000 since the first event in 2023.

The incredibly successful day featured 23 teams, enjoying bacon rolls and coffee before a round of golf, with numerous prize holes and individual and team prizes.

Two complimentary half way houses meant individuals were well catered for along with drinks on the terrace before the evening meal. Prizegiving was preceded by a thrilling evening auction which alone raised £7,000 to help minimise costs and maximise the final donation.

The organisers decided to fundraise for Parkinson's UK to support the charity's vital work in funding ground-breaking research, campaigning for change, and providing crucial information and support services for individuals and families affected by the condition.

Parkinson's is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently there is no cure. It affects around 145,000 people in the UK and every hour two more people are diagnosed. There are over 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety.

And it is not just through fundraising that golf can help support people with Parkinson's. Being active for 2.5 hours a week can help manage Parkinson's symptoms, and has a positive impact both physically and mentally.

Pete Lindsay and Dean Stephenson, event organisers of the Parkinson's UK Golf Day at Kenilworth Golf Club, said: "We all had a great day, helped by the fantastic weather, and the course was playing beautifully.

"Thanks again for all the positive feedback; it's very much appreciated. Congratulations to all the team and individual prize winners—it clearly shows home experience definitely plays its part!

"We must thank Kenilworth Golf Club for allowing us to host the event and providing the catering and resources to enable us to provide such a seamless and enjoyable day. Thank you to all the volunteers and the KGC employees who provided great service, drinks, and food, as well as Steve Hardy and the greenkeepers for ensuring the course was in immaculate condition.

"We also want to extend a massive thank you to all of our individual and company sponsors. Your benevolence means our costs are minimised, directly increasing the monies going to Parkinson's UK. We remain forever grateful for your continued support. Given the incredible success we've had over the last four years, we've already agreed a date for the fifth Kenilworth Parkinson's Golf Day. Next year's event will again be hosted by Kenilworth Golf Club on Wednesday 16th June 2027".

Jo Berry, Parkinson's UK community fundraising manager, said: "We are absolutely blown away by the incredible success of this year's annual charity golf day. Our heartfelt thanks go to Kenilworth Golf Club for being such wonderful hosts, and to every single participant, volunteer, sponsor, and donor who contributed. Your support helps us continue to fund and support ground-breaking research, campaign for change, and provide vital information and support services. You make all of that possible.

"We cannot thank Pete Lindsay and Dean Stephenson enough for their tireless dedication. Year after year, Pete and Dean pour their hearts into organising this fantastic event, and raising thousands of pounds is a phenomenal achievement. Thank you for your continued support."
