Welcome to our Kenilworth Nub News A-Level results live updates page.

We'll be keeping up to date with A-Level results in Kenilworth, across Warwickshire, and across the UK as they come in.

In 2019 Kenilworth School's A-Level results were above the national average, with 87.3% of results being A*-C grades, compared to 75.8% nationwide.

  1. 8% of students in Kenilworth in 2019 also received A* grades, compared to 7.8% in the rest of the nation.

Warwickshire County Council have released the included animated video to help A-Level students with collecting their results today.

The Guardian are reporting that ministers are braced for a backlash as England's teachers despair at A-levels fiasco.

Don't forget if you don't get the grades you're looking for it's not the end of the world. Students who haven't received the grades they need for university have a number of options:

Sit A Level exams this autumn – students have the option to sit the A level exams they should have taken this summer in October. Students should speak to their school or college.

Appeal the results – if students think that the correct processes haven't been followed leading up to their official A Level results, they can appeal. Students should discuss this with the tutors.

UCAS figures show 316,730 of applicants from the UK have been accepted on to their first choice of course - up 2.7 per cent from 2019.
  1. 2% of 18-year-olds to go to university.

As it stands 4% of students will be deferring their university place, which is the same as this time last year.

Reported that UCAS clearing and UCAS Track have gone back online after crashing earlier in the day

Ofqual announce that 35.6% grades were moderated down by one grade, and 0.2% of results down by two.

The Guardian reports that 97.8% of West Midlands students have passed their exams today. This is up 0.7% on 2019, but still 0.5% lower than the national average.
  1. 2% of West Midlands students received A* and A grades today, a 2.2% increase on last year.

Shadow Education Secretary Kate Green labels A-Level results day as a "fiasco."

"Across the country, many young people will be opening their results today to find grades which undermine their work and their potential."

A spokesperson from Coventry University clearing has told Nub News that far fewer people have been calling the help desk than this time last year.

"Last year we had a call a minute," she said, whereas this year the phone lines have been much quieter.

"I think people are waiting for appeals, and re-sits"

Pupils affected by the mass downgrading of A level grades across the country including Kenilworth have been urged to join a possible legal action against the Department for Education and the exams regulator.

Jo Grady, general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU), said of the growing scandal: "The Government needs to accept it has got this badly wrong, stop trying to pull a rabbit out of the hat and keep things simple by using teacher predictions - as happened in Scotland." ...................
