Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT) - which incorporates Kenilworth School & Sixth Form and Westwood Academy in Coventry - is seeking new trustees to join its trust board.

Following the successful delivery of the new school in Kenilworth, a number of trustees who were involved with the project, from its inception ten years ago, are looking to step down.

They include Shirley Whiting (chair of the trust board) and Richard Hales (vice chair of the trust board) who will not be standing for re-election at the end of this academic year in July 2024.

Commenting on her departure, Shirley Whiting said: "I have been privileged to have been involved over a number of years with, firstly, Kenilworth School and Sixth Form as chair of governors and then as part of the transition to become a Multi Academy Trust, including Westwood Academy."

Richard Hales added: "It has been a pleasure to be involved with the school and then the trust and both our schools are an integral part of the communities they serve.

"There is further work to do to embed that ethos across the trust - and in time expand the cohort of like-minded schools within the trust."

A spokesperson from the KMAT members said: "We are truly grateful for the years of support both Shirley and Richard have provided the schools and through their governorship they have led the trust through some challenges and as result created many opportunities to celebrate successes.

"The positive impact they have had on the school community is one they should both feel proud of."

Hayden Abbott, CEO KMAT added: "As my role has changed to be CEO of the trust this is an opportunity to move KMAT into its next phase of development.

"We would like to hear from anyone who feels they can contribute to strategic discussions at trust board level drawing on their particular level of expertise – this need not necessarily be a background in education as we need a broad range of commercial skills across the board.

"If you would like to discuss the opportunity to join the trust board and to make a real impact on children's lives and education, then please contact me on [email protected]."
