Kenilworth's weekly market at Abbey End has been cancelled this week due to a yellow weather warning issues by the Met Office.

Heavy winds and rain have been forecast from yesterday (March 10) through to the end of the weekend.

The severity of the winds coming to the UK from the west after an Atlantic storm is such that the Met Office is also predicting that there will be problems for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.

Jamie Walker of the market's operator CJ's Events said: "A Yellow Weather Warning has been issued for a large part of the UK between 21:00hrs this evening and 15:00hrs tomorrow afternoon. Gusts are over our safety limits and even exceeding 53mph at points.

"It would be irresponsible for us to continue with tomorrows market. The safety of our colleagues, traders and visitors remain our priority."

Kenilworth Market will return next week as usual.
