A 56-year-old man from Kenilworth has been arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply after police stopped a vehicle suspected in county lines drugs offences.

Officers found suspected heroin, crack cocaine, digital scales and cash on the man when he was stopped.

County Lines Disruption officers had spotted the car at 12.30pm yesterday in Leamington Spa close to "known drug users".

Police stopped and searched the front seat passenger when he got out of the car, and found the drugs on his person.

The man has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

The Kenilworth man was one of six people arrested by Warwickshire Police on drugs related offences on the same day.

The arrests follow the launch of Project Reduce in August which was designed to tackled county lines drug dealing and associated violence in Warwickshire.

Detective Inspector Rich Brown said: "We are taking action every day to tackle drug crime in Warwickshire and it should serve as a clear warning to people involved in these offences that you should always be looking over your shoulder."

Anyone with information that could help police with their ongoing enquiries can call 101. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
