Local golfers have helped raise over £1,700 for a charity battling sarcoidosis.

The Old Bakery Golf Society - with the support of the Old Bakery Hotel - held a charity golf event at Nailcote Hall Golf Club in aid of Sarcoidosis UK.

Sarcoidosis is a very rare and often misdiagnosed form of cancer.

Michelle Higgins lost her daughter Suzi to the disease at the age of 32 after years of misdiagnosis.

Her husband Phil, who plays with the society, suggested Sarcoidosis UK as the nominated charity for the day.

The total raised on the day was a whopping £1,730.
