A Kenilworth football club is offering free meals on Christmas Day this year as it tries to battle social isolation.
Kenilworth Sporting is opening its Gypsy Lane clubhouse on December 25 for an afternoon of companionship and home-cooked food.
The community club is trying to reach out to local people who may be spending the day alone to come and enjoy the company of others.
Andy Harris of Kenilworth Sporting told Nub News: "We ran the event in the past but due to losing my dad a couple of years ago we decided to have Christmas Day with the family. However this year we feel it's time to do it again.
"The main problem we have is reaching out to get people attending the day.

"All my family come over and help cook and prepare for the day and then eat with our guests so they feel part of a group on the day.
"It's been a great day in the past and no cost at all to the guest as we have been given money from Coventry Plumbing & Heating Supplies to cover the day."
The club is calling on the Kenilworth community to suggest potential guests and signpost the day to those who they think would benefit from a free Christmas dinner.
Andy continued: "We aim to give back to the community as we feel the whole basis of the club is to keep the community together and it's great to give back where we can."
To sign up you can email the club at [email protected] or message on the social media pages.
