Warwick District Foodbank has announced the relaunch of a weekly foodbank distribution session in Kenilworth, providing local residents with easier access to emergency food and wider support services.

The new session will be held at Abbey Hill United Reformed Church, Kenilworth, every Wednesday from 11.00am to 1.00pm, starting on 7 October 2026.

The reopening marks an important step in improving access to support for people facing food insecurity in Kenilworth. While Warwick District Foodbank has continued to support local residents through home deliveries and access to distribution centres in Warwick and Leamington, a regular town-centre session will enable people to receive more personalised, face-to-face support.

Last year, Warwick District Foodbank provided 6,406 emergency food parcels, supporting local people across Warwick District during times of crisis.

In 2026, 745 people were referred to the foodbank for the first time, demonstrating the ongoing need for emergency food support across the district.

As well as providing emergency food, the weekly session will offer a welcoming space where people can talk to trained volunteers, receive practical guidance, and be connected to other sources of support within the community.

Nancy Deakin, Head of Foodbank at Warwick District Foodbank, said: "We are delighted to be bringing a regular foodbank session back to Kenilworth. While our home delivery service has enabled us to continue supporting local residents, meeting people in person allows us to offer much more than food. It gives us the opportunity to listen, understand individual circumstances, and connect people with wider support that may help address the challenges they are facing.

The new distribution centre has been made possible through a growing partnership between Warwick District Foodbank and Abbey Hill URC.

The town-centre location will improve access for residents who face transport, financial, mobility or childcare barriers, while also reducing reliance on home deliveries.

Cllr Richard Dickson, for Kenilworth St John's Division, added:"I warmly welcome the return of a regular foodbank session in Kenilworth. Having a local, accessible service will make it easier for residents experiencing hardship to access support within our community. The partnership between Warwick District Foodbank and Abbey Hill URC demonstrates the strength of our local community in working together to support those who need help."
