Firefighters from Kenilworth have been called to help fight a blaze at the Hook Norton Brewery.

Residents have been told to stay inside while emergency services tackle the fire at the brewery's stables near Banbury.

"We are currently attending a large fire in the Brewery Lane area of Hook Norton," Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement.

"Please avoid the area where possible as there are a significant number of fire appliances in attendance.

"If you live locally please close your windows and stay in doors when possible."

Kenilworth Fire Station's water carrier has been called to the scene to assist.

The Warwickshire crew was first called to the scene at 12.48pm.

"The Water Carrier's 5000 litre capacity dam is in use providing water to the fire ground at the incident in Hook Norton," a statement from the station said.

Meanwhile the brewery has taken to social media to ask people to stay away and not "spectacte".

"We are experiencing a fire from the roof of our stable block," the brewery said.

"Everybody has been safely evacuated and we have tenders from the fire brigade on site.

"All our horses were already out in their field long before this incident started. Electricity has been switched off and as a precaution, at this time, the brewery, brewery shop, visitor centre and Malthouse Kitchen are closed until further notice.

"Please do not come to spectate as, with Brewery Lane being narrow, access must be kept clear for emergency services.

"We will update you as soon as we have any further information."
