Book lovers in Kenilworth are being invited to enjoy an evening of great food and great conversation as Kenilworth Books welcomes bestselling author Joanna Cannon for its latest Supper Club event.

The intimate evening on Thursday 10 September will give readers the opportunity to meet Joanna, hear about her writing journey, discuss her latest work 'An Unlikely Visitor' and enjoy some food with one of the UK's most acclaimed contemporary authors.

The event forms part of Kenilworth Books' ever-growing programme of literary experiences, which has helped establish the independent Talisman Square bookshop as a destination for readers across Warwickshire.

Joanna is the Sunday Times bestselling author of novels including The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, Three Things About Elsie, A Tidy Ending and Breaking & Mending.

Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a doctor specialising in psychiatry, an experience that has helped shape her work.

Rather than a traditional author talk, the Supper Club offers guests the chance to enjoy a relaxed evening in the company of the author, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, hear behind-the-scenes stories and chat with fellow readers.

The evening will be hosted by bookseller Charlotte Vaughan, who said: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Joanna Cannon to Kenilworth.

"She is one of those authors whose books stay with you long after you've finished reading the final page, and we know our customers are going to love hearing more about her writing and inspiration.

"Our Supper Clubs are all about creating something a little different.

"We want customers to feel as though they're part of the conversation rather than simply listening to it.

"Sharing good food, meeting the author and chatting with other book lovers makes for a really memorable evening."

The event reflects Kenilworth Books' commitment to bringing authors and readers together in meaningful ways, something owner Judy Brook has long championed.

The independent bookshop hosts a packed calendar of events throughout the year, from Saturday author signings and children's workshops to book clubs and exclusive literary evenings.

Places for the Supper Club are limited and advance booking is essential. Tickets cost just £12 and include entry to the event as well as a bowl of soup. Or for £28 you can also get a copy of her latest book 'An Unlikely Visitor'
