A former Kenilworth dessert shop is set to reopen as a cafe after a major refurbishment.

Delightful Desserts on Warwick Road has rebranded as Milk and Mocha after the family-run business found out it could not continue with the franchise.

While the business has rebranded, it will still serve many of the sweet treats it has been well known for over the past few years.

And locals will have the chance to see all the changes at tonight's (November 25) pre-launch event.

"People have been curious about what we have been doing and maybe why it has taken so long," owner Farida Butt explained to Nub News.

"I'm hoping people will see this is not just another coffee shop - we are wanting to be unique with our staple desserts, our gelato, our waffle stacks, and our crepes."

No longer bound by the franchise, the cafe has had a full interior makeover with new furniture and decorations in place.

Farida said this had been key as she wanted to create a more welcoming environment for customers.

"We have changed the layout and we have changed all colours," she said.

"We found people had commented that it wasn't a very welcoming environment, the colours were dark and the seats were hard.

"But when people come into a dessert or coffee shop they want to be comfortable! So what we have tried to do is make it more cosy and more homely."

As well as showing off the new look, the reopening event will also raise money for Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre - the charity Farida works for.

Giving back to the community will be a key theme for the next chapter of the business, with hot drinks capped at £1 throughout December.

Farida explained: "We have put our hot drinks until the 31 December to £1 only, that is due to the rise of energy costs.

"We are aware that people might be in difficulty and if they want a warm space to come and enjoy with a hot drink that isn't too expensive, that is just something we can do to give back to the community."

The pre-launch event will run from 5pm to 8pm today - Friday, November 25.

And to celebrate today's reopening, customers will be able to enjoy free scoops of ice cream as they come to see what has changed.
