Kenilworth council roundup: Roundabout works, council tax hikes and more houses

Kenilworth Town Council

Town councillors have objected to plans to build six new industrial buildings in Kenilworth.

The county council has said a signalised junction could be possible in three places around Kenilworth Castle.

"Legal issues" have been behind delays for a new roundabout on Glasshouse Lane which is now not expected to be built until 2025.

Warwick District Council

Warwick District Council is to fund two new Citizens Advice staff in a bid to help people with cost-of-living pressures.

A Kenilworth councillor has warned lessons need to be learned from the parking issues at Castle Farm Recreation Centre, before the new swimming pools in Abbey Fields open.

Business owners on Kenilworth's Warwick Road have said they actually took less money during the town's light switch on than on a normal trading day - because their shop fronts were blocked from view.

A district councillor has said he wishes the council could "just get on with" plans to build a new cycle path in Abbey Fields.

Residents will next year be given their say on plans for new housing sites around Kenilworth.

Green councillors were unsuccessful in their bid to shorten the length of the new South Warwickshire Local Plan.

HS2 has given £75,000 to Warwick District Council to help fund finishing touches at the over-budget and much-delayed Abbey Fields Leisure Centre project.

Warwickshire County Council

The major infrastructure project at the A46 Stoneleigh Junction has been "re-designed" as the council and its contractors continue to struggle to find the necessary materials.

Fears that Warwickshire County Council could face an "unlimited" bill to finally connect the bridge linger following a meeting for all councillors this month.

Warwickshire County Council will write to the government asking for family farms to be exempt from new inheritance tax rules following an emotionally-charged debate this week.
