Due to the Covid Pandemic, the usual house to house and street collections for Christian Aid Week, with the familiar red envelopes, cannot go ahead again this year.

Instead, it will be celebrated through a digital online donations scheme with the proceeds going to the Campaign against Climate Change.

Churches Together in Kenilworth & District, in partnership with Christian Aid, has set up an e-envelope, in order to allow local people in the community to make their donations as usual.

The e-envelope can be accessed by following this link.

The Christian Aid Week launch service will be held at 6.30pm on Sunday 9 May 2021 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Warwick Road.

St Francis has been able to hold services throughout this lockdown, following strict Covid regulations.

All are welcome to attend the service.

For those unable to be present, the service will also be live streamed on YouTube and can be reached via this link.

Elizabeth Kirwan Christian Aid co-ordinator said: "The climate crisis hurts us all. But people living in poverty experience the worst of it every day. From drought to flooding, climate change robs people of control over their lives.

"Extreme weather means people are struggling to survive without a reliable source of water. Your gift could help a community build an earth dam, so when the rains do come, they will retain the water they need to survive.

"A reliable source of water will help families withstand long drought or relentless rainstorms."
