A Kenilworth children's author's next book will be published in Welsh in time for Christmas this year.

The second book in Julia Rawlinson's Fletcher's Four Seasons series to be made available in Welsh, Cynan a'r Bluen Eira tells of the kind, inquisitive and adventurous little fox as he helps guide Santa to the rabbits' new burrow on Christmas Eve.

This edition also contains a Welsh vocabulary list derived from the story and an English translation of the text, making it suitable for helping teach both adults and children the Welsh language.

Encouraging empathy, kindness, a sense of discovery and also a love for and understanding of the nature surrounding us, the Fletcher's Four Seasons series encourages children to explore the world around them, incorporating many of the National Trust's '50 things to do before you're 11 ¾' such as rolling down a hill, wearing a wild crown, stargazing, watching a bird, creating wild art and many more.

The book will be available from 1 November 2021.

Through emotive, lyrical storytelling, the adventures of Fletcher coincide with the characteristics of the four seasons, inspired directly by author Julia Rawlinson's experiences with her own children and their inquisitiveness about the natural world.

The books have been widely used in educational settings, such as schools, libraries, parks and museums, as a springboard for exploring language, illustration, storytelling, friendship and nature, as well as on nature and story walks.

Tiphanie Beeke's wonderfully engaging illustrations are saturated with the colours of each time of year.

Julia has also released (in English) Fletcher and the Caterpillar and Fletcher and the Rainbow this year.
