Kenilworth town centre businesses have been warned after a spate of burglaries were reported to police

Kenilworth business owners have been told to stay vigilant by police who have had a number of burglaries reported from the town centre.

Overnight on Sunday 9 October a Warwick Road restaurant was broken into via the back doors and some money was stolen.

Between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday offenders tried to force entry to a shop at Smalley Place by forcing the locks.

On the same night someone tried to force entry to a shop on Warwick Road. They did not get in, but the locks were damaged.

A statement from Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police said incidents had also been on the rise across Warwick and Leamington Spa.

Officers told owners to remove as many valuables from their premises overnight as possible.

The statement said: "Please be aware that overnight there have been a couple of attempted burglaries of premises in the town centre.

"Kenilworth is not isolated as Leamington and Warwick have had similar overnight.

"Please secure as best you can and remove valuables/money/personal electrical appliances where possible from the buildings."
