A family-run Kenilworth barbershop has revealed a completely new look following a major renovation.

What was Brits will now be known as 'Blake Company', taking the business at The Square to its next stage.

The shop was originally opened some 12 years ago by Adam Britton, but has now been taken on by his son, Sam, who is set to put his own stamp on things.

"Brits was started as my dad's barber shop, and was very much a family-run business," Sam, 23, told Nub News.

"But you get to the point when you want to fly the nest and do your own thing.

"And rebranding it to the Blake Company is really meaningful for me because it is named after my daughter, Blakely, so it's nice to be stamping the next bit of family history on it now."

Sam had worked in the family's barber shops in Kenilworth and Leamington Spa while growing up, but said he never intended to make a career out of barbering.

Then around two years ago he was given the opportunity to manage the Kenilworth shop himself, cutting his teeth at running his own business for the first time.

And with the rebrand seeing the shop's look and layout completely transformed, Sam said one of the hardest bits about the process was saying goodbye to what his dad had created there.

"It really was the hardest decision I have had to make," he explained.

"From the outside perspective it looks like I am going against what my dad created.

"But he has been very involved, and very supportive which has softened the blow and made everything a lot easier."

The Blake Company now has a much more modern look, which Sam says suits the five-man team of barbers and their clients.

The work was completed in just three days, with customers able to see the new look for the first time last Thursday (June 1).

"It has a much more modern aesthetic now, which really fits what me and the lads are trying to achieve," he added.

"I was really expecting it to be stressful but I planned it to the second and it has actually gone really smoothly.

"The shop has completely transformed and I am really pleased with how it looks now."

And most of all Sam said he is looking forward to welcoming new and returning clients to see the transformation.

"I am just really excited for this next part of the journey and to let everyone see what we have achieved," he said.

"We have the best clients. It is so rewarding that they feel invested in the rebrand.

"I was asking customers about what they would want to see and what they would want to experience in the shop.

"The shop has had input from everyone, not just my own research, which I absolutely love about it."
