Kenilworth Arts Festival will return with a free one-day event this Saturday (September 17).

In collaboration with Kenilworth Books, Talisman Square will be turned into an art exhibition, interactive literary space and acoustic music venue to showcase local talent.

There will be a series of eco-art workshops, community bench painting, storytelling, piano playing and craft activities going on throughout the day.

The activities will be held alongside the 'Art in the Car Park' exhibition, running from 10am to 5pm. It features work by 30 Kenilworth artists showcasing a range of media, including painting, ceramics, photography, glassware, textiles, prints, and cards.

Kenilworth Books will also be hosting events, with local author Julia Rawlinson signing copies of her new children's book Fletcher and the Falling Leaves from 10.30am to 12.30pm – which is also the subject of the 'story walk' which can be followed along the flower borders in Talisman Shopping Centre.

And from 2pm to 4pm professional storyteller Cath Edwards will then share stories from her recent book Tales of Warwickshire, featuring a host of colourful characters.

Judy of Kenilworth Books said: We love our collaborations with Kenilworth Arts Festival and have been working with them on other creative initiatives over the last few years, including the Talisman Community Garden and the Beautiful Benches project.

"Improving the environment and helping to make a positive change within our community is something we really enjoy."

Hugo Hawkings, chief executive of Discovery Properties – the developers of Talisman Shopping Centre – said: "It's fantastic that Kenilworth Books continues to champion local talent by working with Kenilworth Arts Festival to put on this event.

"Kenilworth and Warwickshire as a whole is full of great authors, musicians, and artists, and this is an opportunity for people to come and sample some of their work.

"It will be an enjoyable day for all ages, and we'd encourage lots of people to come along."

The activities on the day run from 10am to 5pm.
