Pop-up performances in pubs and cafés across the district have been announced as part of a three-day Charity Bike Challenge taking place this September by a celebrity duo.

TV legends and celebrity duo James May and Oz Clarke are set to return to their musical roots to support Warwick-based charity's community singing projects this September.

There will be seven pop-up performances in pubs and cafes, visits to care homes, schools and singing groups for people living with dementia.

From 10 to 12 September 20205, the pair will join the sensational singing cyclists of Warwick-based music charity Armonico Consort to raise funds for vital community singing projects in the region.

They'll be bursting into song in charming cafés and buzzing pubs around Warwickshire on their musical fundraising mission.

Along the route, the 15-strong team will also visit schools, care homes, and singing groups for people living with dementia and their carers – just some of Armonico Consort's vital community singing projects that bring music and joy to those who need it most.

There are a few places available to join James & Oz on (or off) the bikes, experience the musical visits, chat with the team and see first-hand the joy that singing brings, including The Black Pug in Warwick, Boston Tea Party in Leamington Spa and The Station House in Kenilworth.

On Friday 12 September from 7pm they will be at Warwick's Collegiate Church of St Mary with special guest choirs: AC Academy Scholars, St Mary's Church Choirs, Armonico Local Choirs and King Henry's Consort from Warwick Schools Foundation.

Other concerts include those in Stratford-upon-Avon on 10 September and Moreton Morrell on 11 September.

Tickets and details can be found here.

Pop-Up performances in cafes in pubs in the area include The Black Pug, Coton End in Warwick taking place on Wednesday 10 September from 12.35 to 1.35 pm.

On Friday 12 September, they will be at Boston Tea Party in Leamington Spa from 10am to 10.45am and at The Station House @ Pom's on Station Road in Kenilworth from 4.15 to 5pm.

However, it should be noted, timings for these stops are approximate.

For community singing projects in schools, care homes and more, the cyclists will be stopping in Warwick on 10 September at Austin Heath Retirement Village, and Memory Singers, both of which will be kept as private events.

Both celebrities have musical roots, whereby James May started as a choirboy at Whiston Parish Church, Rotherham, later studying music at Lancaster University, and learned both the flute and piano.

Meanwhile, Oz Clarke was a chorister and a professional singer in the West End before venturing into wine.

Every penny raised supports Armonico Consort's vital community outreach work – from choirs for children and young people, music programmes for children with Special Educational Needs and community singing groups for people living with dementia and their carers.

Individuals are also being offered the chance to join James and Oz on (or off) the bikes, experience the musical visits, chat with the team and see first-hand the joy that singing brings.

To join them for one, two or three days at £250 per day, including a tee-shirt, lunch and drinks, email Eva Williams at [email protected] for details.
