An independent shoe shop in Kenilworth's town centre is due to close.

Charles Ager currently has a closing down sale at its Talisman Square store, after "dropping sales" over a number of years.

The business told Nub News the pandemic had escalated the decline, as had online price cutting.

It also said the rise in rents, rates and a 50 per cent increase in the national living wage as well as national insurance contributions had all led to growing costs.

Charles Ager has already closed its Coventry branch but said continuing in Kenilworth was "unsustainable".

An official closing date is yet to be confirmed, and will depend on stock levels.

The unit has been on the market for several weeks as a new tenant is sought.

Makes sense. Last time I took my child there they tried to sell me shoes that were too small. Never went back.
