An independent shoe shop in Kenilworth's town centre has officially closed its doors.

Charles Ager confirmed it was closing down its Talisman Square store due to "dropping sales" over a number of years.

The retailer - whose history dates back over 185 years - had already closed its Coventry branch.

The Kenilworth shop has had a closing down sale running for the past few weeks as it looked to shift its remaining stock.

The business told Nub News the pandemic had escalated its decline, as had online price cutting.

It also said the rise in rents, rates and a 50 per cent increase in the national living wage as well as national insurance contributions had all led to growing costs.

The unit has been on the market for several weeks as a new tenant is sought.
