Hundreds of residents in Kenilworth have had an unfortunate start to the week, with up to 1300 homes in the area being without power this morning.

Western Power Distribution tweeted in the early hours (around 3.30am) saying "We're sorry to customers affected by the powercut in the Coventry, Kenilworth CV7 CV8 and surrounding area. We estimate that all customers will have power restored by 04:30."

This was updated two hours later to say that some properties remained without power until 8.00am, some were still without power at 9.30am.

A spokesperson for WPD estimated that up to 1300 houses had been affected by the cuts.
