£1 million remains the asking price for a closed historic pub which has been on the market for over a year.

The Tipperary Inn has previously been listed as 'under offer' by property agents Savills but now appears to be for sale once again.

The Meer End pub closed in May 2024 due to the "current economic climate".

Since then the boozer has shown the signs of ware with a garden table propping up the wall of the porch area.

Nub News reported this damage - and the fact the sign is hanging off its hinges - in April, but the damage is yet to be fixed.

It is thought another crash caused the damage to the front of the building, after a car hit the other side of the building and caused significant damage in June 2022.

The windows are still boarded up and fencing surrounds the property.

Described as a "destination country pub" the Tipperary has been shut for a year, with the previous owners confirming last May it would be shutting.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of Tipperary Inn," they wrote at the time.

"Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to navigate the challenges brought on by the current economic climate.

"We want to express our sincerest gratitude for your patronage and support over the years. It has been a privilege to serve you, and we are truly grateful for the memories we have shared together.

"While this chapter may be coming to a close, we will always cherish the relationships we have formed with our customers and the community. Thank you for being a part of the Tipperary family."

The Meer End Road pub is supposedly where former resident Harry Williams co-wrote the song 'It's a long way to Tipperary' with Jack Judge in 1912.

The pub, which was built in the late 1800s, used to be called the Plough Inn.

In its brochure, Savillls describes the Tipperary as a "destination country pub".

"The Tipperary Inn is a two storey detached property of brick construction beneath a multi pitched slate roof with extensions to the rear," it continues.

"The property sits on a plot extending to 3.14 acres and comprises a car park for circa 56 vehicles and large grassed paddock to the rear."
