A hairdresser who swapped driving to client's houses for opening her salon after the pandemic, has said it was one of the best decisions she ever made.

Having worked as a mobile hairdresser for around 17 years, Sarah Louise Taylor set up shop for her business 'Be Gorgeous Always & Forever' on High Street at the end of 2022.

Now working in a studio at Angels Boutique, the mother-of-two said she loves having her own space and does not miss lugging her equipment around Coventry and Warwickshire on a daily basis.

"I am on the High Street inside Angels Boutique, I have a small studio inside there now which is perfect for me," she told Nub News.

"I have been doing mobile for about 16 years. I'm not getting any younger and the thought of lugging my bag around, hurting my back, didn't appeal any more, so I wanted a location where I could set up and have a real base.

"So when this opportunity became available I grabbed it with both hands."

Having first fallen in love with hairdressing during work experience at school, Sarah Louise has been a hairdresser all her adult life.

And while working during the pandemic was "incredibly stressful" at times, at no point did she ever consider changing jobs.

"The pandemic - it was awful to be blunt," she added.

"I was unlucky and wasn't eligible for any help, so it was really difficult.

"So at times we had to rely on my husband's wages which wasn't always easy.

"But it made me more determined to get back out and build my business."

Over the past two years Sarah Louise started doing Facebook Live videos which gave the business a more "personal touch" and even trained to teach other hairdressers - which she hopes to do more of over the coming months.

She also changed the name of the business which she says has helped make it sound more professional, and easier for new clients to find her.

And she said the new studio on High Street was perfect to help build the business.

"I really like where I am now," she said.

"Other studios I looked at, there was something missing and I didn't get the right feeling.

"But then when I looked at the one at Angels it had that 'wow' factor.

"I have redecorated to put my stamp on it, and now it is a lovely space where clients can come and feel pampered and taken care of."
