Council planners have given the green light for a local water tower to be turned from a holiday let into a permanent home.

Warwick District Council has signed off on updated planning permission for the quirky building at Burton Green.

Permission was first granted for the redundant tower to be turned into a holiday stay in 2016.

Now, the owners of the Hob Lane building have had a condition of the original planning removed, so it can become a permanent residence.

Signing off on the change, a council report said: "The removal of condition 9 will also have an acceptable impact on the green belt, the setting of the immediately adjacent listed building and on the amenity of both neighbouring and future occupiers.

"Finally, the proposed development is also considered to be acceptable from a highway safety perspective and provides sufficient parking capacity on site."

The application said: "They [the owners] obtained planning consent in 2016 to convert the redundant water tower into residential accommodation, carried out thoughtfully, using materials and elements from the functioning water reservoir to create interesting accommodation and have been arranging short-term lettings ever since."

It continued: "The time has now come when they no longer wish to let the property but provide an opportunity for someone to make this unique building their home.

"They therefore request that the condition, restricting the occupation of property to short-term lets of a maximum of six weeks be removed."
