Green light for mobile dog groomer's street trading licence
By James Smith 24th Apr 2026
A mobile dog grooming business has been given the green light to tour the district and set up shop at various spots in the local area.
Warwick District Council's licensing and regulatory committee approved a 'street trading consent' for the 'Dog Wash Trailer' at its meeting yesterday (April 23).
The licence will allow the business to sell its dog washing service from the vehicle anywhere within Warwick district.
Speaking at yesterday's meeting, business owner Ben O'Malley explained: "Dog Wash Trailer is a mobile dog washing service, it is a small compact unit designed to take up very little space on location.
"The business offers two services - home visits and pop up location events.
"During the winter months, the pop-up location events offer a warm hydro-bath to clean the dogs, and during the summer months the unit is repurposed to offer a cooling dog bath.
"The trailer itself is one of only three of its kind in the UK, it is an Australian model."
Usually a street trading licence only allows a mobile business to stay in one place for up to 15 minutes.
However, Mr O'Malley had asked for this restriction - which usually applies to ice cream vans - to be removed. Councillors agreed to this.
Mr O'Malley also explained the trailer fits into one parking space, does not make any noise outside the vehicle and he uses environmentally-friendly products.
He also said there is a "symbiotic benefit" to local businesses where he sets up the trailer as he brings customers to that venue.
