Over £3,000 has already been given to an online fundraising page started to support the family-run farm in Radford Semele after a huge barn fire yesterday.

The barn, on Lewis Road, was destroyed, with six fire crews tackling the blaze through the night.

Whilst firefighters were able to save the sheep trapped inside the building, and stop the fire from spreading further, it still contained baled hay and farm equipment.

In just 24 hours the fundraiser has received over £3,400 in donations, with the initial target of £3,000 already passed.

The message on the fundraising page says: "Hi, our names are Naomi and Vicki, we are raising money for the farm in our village of Radford Semele which suffered a massive barn fire last night.

"The Gibbs family lost this years harvest of hay, straw and some of their grain, along with their tractor and all of their trailers and equipment to do their work.

"Horses stables and tack room were also destroyed.

"They as a family do absolutely loads for the village and are an integral part of our community. Let's support them like they would support us."
